Richard Penner Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Richard Penner on August 13th, 2021 with Debra at his side.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Debra, who supported him in this journey, and their three loving sons, Joshua, Riley, and Tyler. Also left to cherish him are his parents, Pete and Anne Penner, sister Gerri (Jack) Kirby and their children Nathan (Rebecca Dawson), Sara, and Katie, and sister, Lisa McLean and her son, Adam. He is predeceased by brother-in-law Wayne McLean. Richard will be lovingly remembered by his parents-in-law, Lyn and Brigitte Madder, and Edith and Brian Anema; grandmother-in-law Ruth; brothers-in-law Tim (Janelle) Madder and their children, Trinity and Tristan, along with Chris (Laura) and their children, Ashley and Zachary.

Richard was raised with his sisters in St. James, graduating from Silver Heights Collegiate. Later, Richard would attend Red River College where he would befriend Murray before pursuing a career in Heavy Duty Truck Transportation. Richard’s Career highlights took place at King Transportation, and eventually Borderland School Division. During this time, Richard maintained a fleet of school buses, oversaw maintenance operations for the equipment and later the staff who maintained it. Richard took pride in his work, making sure that everything he did, met his own standard of excellence.

There was no doubt that Richard took pride in his work, but it was clear Richard was most proud of his family, spending time with them at the lake, working on projects with his sons, passing on his own knowledge. While Richard loved his family, he also enjoyed helping others, he loved people.

Through Richard’s faith, the lord gave him strength and guidance in all that he did. In his final days he expressed his readiness to meet his Lord and Savior.

A public viewing will be held on August 19th, at Morris Funeral Home between 12-9pm.

A private graveside service will follow.

Thank you to Dr. Dhala and Dr. Thompson as well as the kind, supportive healthcare staff of Boundary Trails Hospital for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Boundary Trails Hospital Foundation.
