Mom loved the Columbia Valley and especially Parson. Mom’s love and commitment to the valley started young. Her Dad worked for the CPR and the family moved from Chase to Parson to run the CPR Station. Mom was the third youngest of 7 Mosher girls. Mom loved school, her dog Pal, and exploring around Parson. Mom met and fell in love with the boy next door, Baldur Gudjonson. Mom and Dad were married August 18th 1951. Mom along with some of her sisters spent quite a few years raising their families in Parson, they were close and the kids all knew their cousins. Mom was known to many as quiet and busy, always getting something done, she was also a firecracker with a determined spirit. Mom was resourceful and efficient having 7 children, many visiting nieces and nephews, and a farm to help run. Mom was knowledgeable in ways of gardening and medicinal values of plants and herbs. Mom was never without a dog, it started with Pal and ended with her faithful companion Abby, with many dogs in between.
In her 40’s Mom made sure she finished her schooling and received her highschool diploma and took book-keeping and accounting courses. Mom worked outside the home as a Teacher Assistant and later a Custodian at CVES until 1989.
Mom spent many hours acquiring the official documents of our Metis ancestry through the Mosher/Crowe family. Mom made sure every one of us was knowledgeable in our ancestry and acquired our documentation so that we could be registered Metis citizens. Mom proudly made a trip to Candle Lake SK to be part of the naming of the Mosher Park and Trail. Mom was the oldest living descendent of Dan and Christina Mosher to attend.
We had great parents who taught us unconditional love, how to get things done, and to always do your best no matter the job. Mom’s softer and more patient side showed in being a Grama. As a Grama she found a new role and often spent many hours sharing stories of her early life hanging around Parson, and the funny stories from the farm. Many weeknights and weekends were spent with one or many of her grandchildren. The farm was where us children and early grandchildren grew up, and Beards Creek is where the rest of the grandchildren and great grandchildren's memories are (Great Grama and Grampa Moo); gardens, fences, porches, cows, chickens, dogs, and time spent travelling to visit children and grandchildren.
In the past almost 13 years Mom spent alone, it was the valley she called home and it won’t be the same without her. We know Mom is sitting on a porch with Dad (probably making a list or two!) watching over us all. Rest in peace and love Mom, we miss you.
