<p>The family of Mabel Bashforth beloved wife of the Late Robert Bashforth of the Okla District, sadly announce her passing on July 20, 2021. She was 93 years of age.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel Gwendolyn Bashforth (Ricketts) was born March 1, 1928 on the family farm North East of Okla to Leonard and Florrie Ricketts and passed away July 20, 2021.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel received her education at Turnout School until Grade 8, and then worked on the family farm with her brother and her parents.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel married Robert Bashforth on October 24, 1957 and farmed with him until they retired. To this union they had three children Daniel, Linda and James.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel played horseshoes, competing in all the towns in the area. She started curling in Okla and then curled in Preeceville and surrounding towns. &nbsp;Mabel participated in many community events like helping with the Okla picnics, putting in the floor in at the new hall, working the bingos and many suppers.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel decorated wedding cakes and in later years did a lot of chip carving making many things for her family. She loved her flowers and took pride in her yard.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Mabel was predeceased by her husband in 1993, her brother Herbert in 2013, her sister Vera in 2016, her father in 1982 and her mother in 1969.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp; She was survived by her three children, five grandchildren Daniel (Melissa), Tyler (Anita), Samuel (Kristy) Spray, Christopher (Chantel) Bashforth, Alana (Matt) Yarnton, and eight great-grandchildren, Cayden, Annika, Karina, Katelyn, Lillian, Reagan Spray, Kira and Hailey Bashforth.</p> <p>The Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Okla Community Cemetery with family friend Tereasa Laughren officiating. Mabel&#39;s grandson Daniel Spray shared at tribute of her life with us. Memorial donations in memory of Mabel may be made to the Okla Community Cemetery or to the SPCA as gifts of remembrance.
