William Earl Timberman A kind, generous, considerate loving man with the best sense of humor passed away July 29, 2021 unexpectedly at the Billings Clinic Hospital. He will be missed by many, more than we can ever say. William Earl Timberman (Bill), 77, an extremely proud Viet Nam era Marine, was born September 17, 1943 in Roundup, MT to loving parents Betty (Pond) and Shorty Timberman. His dad was a young Milwaukee Railroad worker and they moved often on the Rocky Mountain Division, with Bill attending 9 schools in12 years. He graduated from High School at Sumatra, MT in 1961 and immediately started working for his dad on the Milwaukee. He enlisted in the US Marines in1963, serving at Camp Pendleton before going to Viet Nam in 1965. Upon his return from the Marine Corps, he went back to work for the Milwaukee Railroad until its’ closing in 1979. He then started his own businesses, ISO Grocery in Billings MT, and Pacific Northwest Salvage, contracting as a derailment salvage expert, for various Northwest railroads including BNSF, MRL and others. Bill and Maxine Holmes were married in 1965 and to this union Mark and Keith were born. They later divorced and Bill married Florence Griffith-Moon with whom he shared stepchildren James, Dennis and Joyce. Florence passed away in 2015 and he moved home to Roundup to be closer to his mother and sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Keith Timberman and wife Florence. He is survived by son Mark Timberman of Cabin City MT, sister Kathy (Bryan) Adolph of Roundup MT, stepchildren James and Dennis Moon and Joyce Moon Boston and families of Billings MT, several nieces and nephews, a ton of wonderful cousins and long time Marine Corp buddy Roy Naragon of Bridgman, MI. His greatest pleasures were spending time with any and all of his family, his beloved dogs, anything Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, watching golf on TV (some of today’s pro golfers he has followed on the Golf Channel since they were in high school), coming up with small inventions to make things easier to use, eating cookies, and proving why “Mom always liked him best”. As per his request, graveside military services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 1:00 at the Musselshell, MT cemetery. Cookies and coffee will follow at the Musselshell School.
