James A. Novak

James Novak---88, Minot, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in a Minot hospital.  James A. Novak was born October 21, 1932, to Frank and Bernice (Kivley) Novak on the family farm near Minot, ND.  He was raised on the Novak farm in Burt Township, and attended Minot Public Schools, graduating in 1950.  On November 28, 1953, Jim was united in marriage to Pat Klein. They made their home on the Klein homestead near Karlsruhe, ND until 1956, when they established the Novak Farm in Freedom Township.  Together they raised their six children, small grains, and cattle. They remained on the farm until 2016, when they moved to Minot.  Jim was an active member of the community, serving on the school board, Freedom Township board in various capacities, and driving school bus. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all that knew him.  Those who shared in his life: Wife of 67 years, Pat; Children: Rick (Shelle) Novak, Robin (Jeri) Novak, Randall (Kim) Novak, Roxanne (Dan) Vander Vorste, Rhonda (Joseph) Greenwood, and Ronald (Tania) Novak, 14 grandchildren: 13 great-grandchildren: siblings:  Richard Novak and Patricia Uhlir: several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  James was preceded in death by his parents.  Visitation: there will be no reviewal as cremation has taken place, however, friends may sign a guest register on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 3-5 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot  Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 5 pm in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot  Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, August 9, 2021 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.  Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot The service will be livestreamed for the public to view and can be accessed by going to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkw5wBH7W_IUwKUcuLvhgOw
