Charles "Monk" Grooms age 72 years of Lake Placid Florida passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his home in West Union, Ohio. Mr. Grooms was born March 25, 1943 the son of the Evelyn (Mathews) Grooms and the late Arthur Grooms in Adams County, Ohio. Besides his father Charles was preceded in death by his brother Mike and daughter Cherry Barbara. Survivors include his mother Evelyn Grooms of West Union, Ohio; one daughter Lisa Payne of Lake Placid, Florida; two sons Jeff Grooms of Lake Placid Florida; Todd Grooms of Naples, Florida; four sisters Melba Jackman of Springboro, Ohio; Patsy Snider of West Union, Ohio; Sheryl Long of Clinton, Tennessee; Gail Grooms of Wilmington, North Carolina; two brothers Noble Grooms of Stout, OH; Butch Grooms of West Union, OH; three grandchildren Sherry, Hannah, Tyler Grooms and companion Claudia Grooms. Funerals services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home with Clarence Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Cemetery with military graveside services by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held two hours before the service the day of the funeral.
