Martha S. Parrish Obituary

Martha Sherwood Parrish, 87, formerly of Broadway, Virginia, died peacefully on October 5, surrounded by her family, at Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, PA. She was born May 17, 1927, in Greenport, Long Island, New York. She attended New York State Teachers' College in New Paltz, New York, and was an elementary school teacher for over 27 years. She loved music, enjoyed traveling with her husband, was an avid reader, and loved being surrounded by her family. She was active in Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market, Virginia, and in the New Market FCE Club. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert G. Parrish; two daughters, Suzanne P. Knight and husband, Roy D. Knight, of Romney, WV; Katherine P. Stutzman and husband, Curtis D. Stutzman, of Mechanicsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Christopher A. Knight of Edgewater, MD, Matthew P. Knight of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel C. Stutzman and wife Erin, of Harrisburg, PA, Rachel (Stutzman) Schober and husband, Greg, and Elizabeth (Libby) Stutzman of Bridgewater, VA. She was also blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Jonah T. and Cooper D. Stutzman of Harrisburg, PA. A service celebrating Martha's life will be held at Messiah Village Chapel on Friday Oct. 10 at 2:00 with visitation beginning at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Martha to the Messiah Lifeways Endowment Fund for Benevolent Care, 100 Mt. Allen Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
