Donita Gail Freienmuth Obituary

Donita Gail Freienmuth passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Donita was born in Aplington, Iowa, on January 4, 1933 to Hilda Alberta Hites Jacobs and Frank C. Jacobs. She spoke often of growing up on the family farm in Iowa, fishing with her father, riding her horses, and hunting. After she graduated high school, she attended nursing school in Chicago, and earned her Registered Nurse License. She then packed her car and headed to Los Angeles, California where she met the love of her life Byron Otto Freienmuth. They married in 1959 and eventually moved to Colorado where she worked as a RN and put Otto through college where he earned his degree in engineering. Work took them to San Diego where they lived for a number of years. They bought a wonderful vacation home at Campo La Roca, south of San Felipe, Baja California where they spent as much time as they could, exploring the countryside, and fishing for snapper and yellow tail in the Sea of Cortez. When Otto retired, they moved to Reedsport, Oregon and enjoyed a wonderful 10 years on their 40 acres in the trees. They had three children, Sylvia Lynne Freienmuth-Boyer, Greta Gail Freienmuth, and John Otto Freienmuth. She is preceded in death by her husband Otto, grandson Jakob, and son-in-law Karl Boyer. She is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, Kara Boyer, Devin Boyer, Eric Freienmuth and Natalie Freienmuth (Shipley), and 9 great-grandchildren. She requested no services.
