Ms. Hattie Garnett Harris Obituary

Ms. Hattie Garnett Harris was born in Columbia County, GA on Monday, February 13, 1950 to both the late Eunice Luke Garnett and Willie Garnett. She was the 3rd of eight children born to her parents. On Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, GA, God called her home to rest. Growing up in a God-fearing home, Hattie accepted Christ and decided to join the Lampkin Grove Baptist Church of Appling, GA at a very young age. She served faithfully until she fell ill. Hattie was a caring, kind and giving person. She dedicated her life to caring for her family members and friends. The words “no” and/or “I can’t” were not a part of her vocabulary. Hattie was a product of the Columbia County School System of Georgia. She attended Blanchard High School. Upon retiring, Hattie was gainfully employed at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA as a Food Service Supervisor after forty years of dedicated service. In addition to her parents, our beloved Hattie Garnett Harris was preceded in death by brother, James Earnest Garnett. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Darryl (Ann) Garnett of Tucker, GA; five grandchildren, Triniti Garnett, Jimmy Lee Jackson lll, John Leon Jackson, all of Tucker, GA, Jaden Whisby and Kaidin Taylor, both of Grovetown, GA; four sisters, Louise (Isaac) Green, Shirley Moore, Teresa (Dennis) Thomas, all of Augusta GA and Edwina Marr of Hephzibah, GA; one brother, Willie (Magnolia) Garnett of August, GA; two aunts, Ludell Garnett of Appling, GA and Mozella Garnett of Los Angeles, CA; one honorary-sister, Helena Green of Grovetown, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
