<p>Donald Elridge Sumrell, 77, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at UNC Lenoir Healthcare.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Titus Elridge Sumrell and Isabelle Moore, sister, Marjorie Ann Sumrell, and brother, Joseph Franklin Sumrell.</p> <p>Donald retired from Massey Motor Company holding various positions. He served his country, giving four years of his life with the National Guard. Donald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed horseback riding and hunting.</p> <p>He is survived by his wife, Nancy Davenport Sumrell, of the home; son, Stephen Cale Sumrell and wife Kathryn of Goldsboro; sister Betty Tolston and husband Gary of Kinston; grandchildren, Weaver Davenport Sumrell and Isabelle Kathryn Sumrell.</p> <p>A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with Pastor Gregory Dickerson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Grove UMC, 4359 Middle Rd, Kinston, NC 28501.</p>Obituary
