Robert 'Duke' Halpin Obituary

Robert Halpin, a longtime resident of Valhalla died July 29, 2021 at the age of 75. Robert ‘Duke’ was born in Tarrytown on September 14, 1945 and was the son of James and Margaret McLain Halpin. He attended Tarrytown schools and graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for 6 years.

Robert then went on to become a professional firefighter with the Fairview Fire Department and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Greenburgh Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 1586. Duke was also an avid gardener and was a member of the American Legion White Plains Post 135.

Robert I survived by his loving wife JoMargaret (Maher) and his children Christine Halpin, Robert Halpin and MargaretJo (Ryan Chua) and his grandchildren John Patrick Chua-Halpin and Anna Marie Chua-Halpin. Also surviving are his sisters Margaret Bauman, Barbara Gasparre and Brenda Galella. He was predeceased by his brothers James and Eugene.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30. Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery.
