Mark Eber Kollman Obituary

Mark Eber Kollman peacefully passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 68. Mark was born on November 24, 1952, in Hays to Henry Adolf and Laura Irene (Stultz) Kollman. Mark was a lifelong resident of Woodston, Kansas and attended school in Woodston until the school closed. He then attended Stockton High School and graduated with the class of 1970. At a young age it was obvious that Mark was an intelligent young man. He enjoyed reading and playing cards with his sisters often. He loved agriculture and farming so much that after high school he attended Kansas State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Economics in 1974. After college, he returned to the family farm where he spent the rest of his life living and working. Mark was a quiet person who loved to help others almost to a fault. He enjoyed his life and his good friend Darren Rubottom and cousin, Leo Kollman who both helped him a lot. He also had a few furry best friends that kept him company throughout his life. Three of his dogs were Icky and Red, which are now both deceased, and Harry who loved him up to his final days. Mark was a lover of music as well, with blues and jazz being some of his favorite forms. He would attend a two-day concert in Salina every year that was centered around jazz and blues. Mark was greatly loved and will be greatly missed because he was a man of value, character, and integrity who served with a giving heart and loved with an even greater heart. His legacy of love, care, and devotion will remain with us forever. Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Laura Kollman; brother, Louis “Mike” Kollman; and sister, Mary Pulec. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia Middleton of Texas, Joan Northup of Salina, Kansas; nieces, Brenda, Sherry, Melva, Heather, Jessica, Melinda, Angela, and Anne; nephews, John, Brian, and Mike; and many cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the funeral home in Stockton. A private inurnment will follow. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to Humane Society-High Plains and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669.
