Vivian Maxine Duarte Obituary

Vivian Maxine “Antrican” Duarte passed away at home on Saturday, July 24, 2021, with her husband and son by her side. She was born in Rutledge, Tennessee on May 3, 1942, but was raised in Claxton, Tennessee. Vivian attended Claxton Elementary School and Clinton High School until she moved to Daytona Beach, Florida where she finished high school and attended Daytona Beach Jr. College. There she earned her associate degree in nursing. After living in Florida for years Vivian and her son moved back to Tennessee to live for a couple of years.  This is where she met the lady, Kay Lozano who would be her best friend. Kay moved to California and Vivian and her son moved to Los Angeles shortly after. sadly, Kay passed away on December 28, 2015. In California, Vivian met her future husband, Richard “Rick” Duarte who worked for Kay’s brother-in-law. Kay and her sister arranged for Vivian to meet Rick. They married in November of 1980 and had a very good life. They lived in Hermosa Beach, California until June 1999 before they both retired and moved to Claxton, Tennessee and brought a home. They lived there until Vivian became ill and could no longer care for such a large home, so they moved to Knoxville in 2011.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Venia and Everett Antrican; brothers, J.D. Antrican and Joe Antrican; sisters, Shirley McCluskey and Lucy Hyatt (all of Tennessee); in-laws, Alfonso and Rebecca Duarte of Hermosa Beach, California; and sister-in-law, Robin Marquez of Lawndale, California.

Mourning her passing are husband, Richard A. Duarte; son, Brian L. Bowman; special friends, Jerry Sue & Bob Chabot of Lake Elsinore, California, Janice Milhorn of Bluff City, California, and Linda Medsker of Casey, Illinois; very special niece, Samantha Zepeda of Las Angeles, California.

As per Vivian’s wishes there will be no funeral service. She will be cremated and have her ashes included with her best friend’s ashes, Kay Lozano where they will be scattered in their beloved Smokey Mountains, a place they went every year. Finally together again!!!
