Robert Arthur Geno Obituary

Robert Arthur Geno, 68, of Alpena, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 10:10 AM at home following a long fight with cancer. He was born July 29, 1952, at Bay City General Hospital in Bay City, MI. to the late George and Florence (Philopulos) Geno of Pinconning. Bob was raised in the Pinconning area for most of his life until joining the United States Navy. After serving his country for 8 years, Bob lived in South Carolina for some time. About 20 years ago he found his way up to the Alpena area where he met and married Gail Smalley on Dec. 4, 2010. Bob worked as a pipe fitter for the Local Union 85 for over 25 years until his retirement. After retirement he became involved in a “hobby” which was diving. With his Navy background it was no secret that Bob loved being in the water. His obsession with the water grew immensely once he began diving the Great Lakes. In fact, he spent many years researching and searching for early shipwrecks. Bob also loved his animals. He had two sheep, Baby and Shadow, and his caring dog Kiki. He is survived by his wife Gail, his children Carissa Geno, Nicole Geno, Joseph Nelson, and Alisha Howard, grandchildren, Crystale, Bleu, Genesis Howard, and Jazaniah Howard, his brothers, Wayne (Janey) Geno, and Gary (Julie) Geno, sister-in-law Lee Genow, several nieces and nephews, and his brother in heart Robert McGreevy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother George Genow, and a nephew, Joshua Geno. Bob has been taken for cremation from McWilliams Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be registered at mcwilliamsfh.com
