John L. Hemmer
John Leo Hemmer, age 48, of Clear Lake, SD passed away on July 21, 2021 in California. A private immediate family gathering will be held at the Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD. A Celebration of Life will be held in Clear Lake, SD on July 4, 2022, Johnny’s favorite holiday, for all family and friends. John was born on May 23, 1973, in Dubuque, IA. John graduated from Deuel School District in 1991. He entered the Navy after graduation and was stationed in San Diego, CA. On July 19, 1996, he married Julie Roe in Brookings, SD. In 1996, they moved to Phoenix, AZ where John earned a Culinary Arts degree at the prestigious Scottsdale Culinary Institute. He was an executive chef in Iowa, Arizona, South Dakota, and New York. Johnny enjoyed reading, cinematography, listening to loud diverse music, cooking for his loved ones, current events, nature, and traveling. Johnny will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Dennis and Linda (Linneman) Hemmer of Clear Lake, SD, his siblings: Kristi Hemmer (Michael) of MN, Amy Hemmer (Jim) of TX, Heidi (Jeff) Fuller of MN and Heather Hemmer of MN; his son, Jonas of CO, his daughter, Jill of SD and Julie Hemmer of SD. Although divorced, John and Julie maintained a loving and stellar relationship. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Leo and Elsie Hemmer; his maternal grandparents, John and Bernadette Linneman and his uncle, Ron Linneman.Obituary
