It is with great sadness, we the Burns family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, Brian Joseph Burns, of Tillsonburg, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. In his younger years, Brian served for 5 years with The Royal Canadian Navy, between CFB Borden, CFB Esquimalt and HMCS Terra Nova. Brian will be remembered by many for his 40 plus years of dedicated employment with Nutritional Management Services Ltd., London. Brian always took such great pride spending time carefully manicuring and caring for his garden beds. Always a devoted and loving husband for over 40 years to Debbie (Cooper) Burns, of Tillsonburg and dedicated father to their children: Brad (Sophie) Burns, of Windsor and loving papa to their daughter Kayleigh; Brandon (Lindsay) Burns, of Tillsonburg; and Brett (Chelsea) Burns, of New Brunswick. Survived by six siblings and their partners and families: Cheryl (Dan) Taylor, Blair (Christine) Crecco, Bruce (Kelly) Putman, Darrell (Darren) Burns, Robert (Cheryl) Boldt, Lana (Darren) Pickering. Also survived by his caring mother-in-law June Cooper and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his loving mother Phyllis (Burton) Williston. In keeping with Brian’s expressed wishes, a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life and legacy, on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes - Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg by Chaplain Tina Dias. A livestream of the memorial service was available for those wishing to attend digitally. All guests are required to wear a face covering and are asked to practice social distancing. Private inurnment follows the memorial service in the Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium Wall 6.
