Dick Dwayne Holdren, 86, of Batavia, IL, formerly of Filley, NE, died, July 21, 2021 in Batavia. He was born on July 25, 1934 at Davey, NE. He earned his GED and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He participated in the rodeo circuit for 20 years, and worked for Dean Brothers Lincoln Mercury, Duncan Aviation, Farmers Co-Op, and drove a school bus for Laidlaw Transportation. He married Vonna L. Rademacher on January 11, 1991 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice and they lived in Filley. She died on June 21, 2010. He moved to Lincoln in 2012 and later to Illinois. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice, the Virginia American Legion, Beatrice Eagles Club, Marysville Moose Lodge, and the Masons and Shriners in Mississippi. He was also a licensed and ordained Baptist preacher, and enjoyed car shows, restoring cars, and dancing. Survivors include two sons, Herb Holdren of Greenup, IL and Joseph Holdren of Mount Sterling, KY; step-daughter, Tracey Blaker of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Snyder of Illinois; in-laws, Wanda Rademacher, Dale (Carolyn) Rademacher, Dean (Pat) Rademacher, Eleanor Klaus, Viola Johnsen, and Norma (Wayne) Luedders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Nina Moyer Holdren; his wife, Vonna: brother, Charles; sister, Pauline Knox; in-laws, Melvin Rademacher, Vern Klaus, and Leland Johnsen; special friend, Delores Schwartz. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating.
