Velma J. Seaton, 92, of St. Elmo, died at 7:29 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Pastor Nathan Brands officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, rural Beecher City. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials may be to the donor’s choice.
Velma June Seaton was born on Tuesday, May 7, 1929 in rural Beecher City to William Wilson and Gertie Mae (Hissong) Scholes. She married Ray Lee Seaton on September 24, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She was a homemaker and member of the First Christian Church, Brownstown.
She is survived by her sons, Dwight (Vicki) Seaton of Sparta, Michael (Mary) Seaton of St. Elmo, and Ray Lee, Jr. (Debbie) Seaton of Vandalia; daughters, Pamela (Curtis) Hyatt of Brownstown and Debbie (Bob) Veach of Mason; sister, Susie Johnson of Altamont; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Vernon Scholes and Herbert Scholes; sisters, Eileen Gatewood, Bernice Pasley and Rosalee Cox.
