James Chandler

His Life & Legacy………. James Chandler affectionately called “Busta” by his wife, Claudette, left his earthly home on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 3:15 am, to be with the Lord after a long illness, at MUSC Florence, SC. “Busta” was born in Williamsburg County on December 20, 1936, to the late Flossie Chandler Tisdale and John Brown. He attended the Public Schools of Williamsburg County. Busta was married to the Love of his life, Claudette T. Chandler on March 17, and together they lovingly shared over 50 years of marital bliss. He enjoyed digging graves, yard work, eating ice cream and cake; family time, fishing and his outing was visiting the Shrimper in Lake City on Saturdays. Busta attended Old Mt. Zion church in Kingstree, SC and later joined Greater Bethel AME and served as an active member. Busta was always a hard worker. He started his work history at the Rubber Plant then Fair Deal Warehouse, and Drexel Heritage Furnishing. He then decided to become an entrepreneur and ventured into the Grave Digging Service Business. He became the Grave Digger for the Local funeral homes. His first contract was with Dimery & Rogers Funeral Home in Kingstree, SC. He later expanded his business to serving Williamsburg Funeral Home, Wilds Funeral Home LLC, McKnight Frasier Funeral Home, Samuels-Richardson Funeral Home, Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, Pressley’s Funeral Home, Henryhand Funeral Home and Green’s Funeral Home. Loved ones who will forever cherish his legacy are his loving wife of the home, Claudette T. Chandler; children, Ferland Scott of Syracuse, NY, Mary Ann Chandler, Pamela Yvette Rucker, Jeanette Chandler-Robinson, James Chandler Jr, Chris (Arthur) Franklin, Fredrick Chandler all of Detroit Mi , Yolanda (Gregory) Garcy of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and Nicole Chandler of Kingstree, SC; 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; Mother-in-law, Janie Tisdale of Lane, SC; sisters-in-law, Barbie Tisdale of Columbia, SC and Essie Smith of New York, NY; brothers-in-law, George (Terry) Tisdale of Kingstree, SC and Christopher Tisdale of Salters, SC; a very Special nephew, Joseph (Hortense) Franklin of Bloomingvale, SC; caregiver, Thomas McCrea; host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
