Robert J. Simpson Obituary

Robert J. Simpson, 45, of Charlevoix, passed away on July 21, 2021 at his home.

Rob was born on September 6, 1975, in Charlevoix, the son of Ronald Simpson and Joanne Potter.

He was a lifelong resident of Charlevoix and loved the outdoors.  You could often find him building one of his “huge” campfires for all to enjoy.   He was a well-respected man, always helping others no matter what they needed.

Rob was always working and owned multiple businesses through the years and is probably best known for his woodworking company.   He did everything from firewood to building projects.   In his younger years he devoted his time to working on his grandparent’s farm alongside his brother Tracy.   He loved their time working the family land.

On May 5, 2005, in Charlevoix, he married Treasa F. Maurer who survives.  Also surviving are 2 brothers, Tracey (Tabatha) Simpson of Gaylord, Jason Simpson of Boyne Falls, his mother Joanne (Randy) Cebulski of Charlevoix, his father Ron Simpson of Charlevoix, 2 step-children, Brian Hammond of Manistee, Michelle Hammond of East Jordan, his grandson Silas Hammond whom he adored, 3 step-sisters, Courtney Cebulski, Tamatha Cebulski, Brittney (Tony) Kountoupis and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, his step-mother Barb Simpson and his beloved dog “The Beefy One”.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at the Barnard Grange Hall in Marion Township.  Following the celebration at sunset there will be a bonfire on Rob's behalf at 8368 Shrigley Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a memorial fund set up for Rob’s grandson Silas. Please make checks payable to Tracey Simpson c/o Charlevoix State Bank, 111 State Street Charlevoix MI 49720.

Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign his online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
