Roger L. Staley

Roger L. Staley, 67, of Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island. Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Roger Lane Staley was born July 31, 1953, in Moline, the son of Raymond and Violet (Crowe) Staley. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving one year in Germany. He married Debra Ponce in 1977, and the couple had three children prior to divorcing. He married Carla Rock on April 11, 1994, in Warsaw, Minnesota. He was a lifelong trucker who truly loved his job. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, crafts and woodworking, and watching Western and martial arts movies. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Roger, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for “resting his eyes.” Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Carla, of Davenport; seven children, Tina (Joseph) Martzahn of Bettendorf, Cachina Rock of Medford, Minnesota, Stephanie Rock of Davenport, John (Andrea) Staley of Reynolds, Illinois, Michael Staley of Silvis, Timothy Rock of Hutchinson, Minnesota, and Elizabeth Rock of Davenport, along with Gina Williams of Silvis, who was like a daughter to him; 24 grandchildren, Anna and Jennefer, Dale, Annabelle, and Breanne, Katie, Sam, Cassandra, Leah and Steve, Jami, Amy, Justin, Colton, Devaeh, Emma, Renesmee, and Freya, Angel, Abigail and Connor, Emma, Karlee, and Hunter, and Abby, Emma and Jeffrey; one great-grandchild with one on the way; siblings, Peggy (Keith) Redding of Colona, and Walter “Alan” Staley of Milan; his dog, Sarge; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dennis Staley; and his ex-wife, Debra Staley. The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
