Jan Rials Obituary

Janet (Jan) Long Rials, age 78, of Elkhart, Texas, is now singing with the angels in Heaven.  Jan passed away on Wednesday, the 21st day of July 2021, at her home. She was born on the 16th day of April 1943, in San Pedro, California to parents Shelby M. Long and Fern Kneezle Long.

Jan lived a simple and beautiful life here on earth but is now walking with Him for all eternity. Glory, Hallelujah! She enjoyed reading books, sitting on the front porch in the mornings, riding her golf cart during the day, and enjoying God’s creation such as seeing her flowers come in full bloom, watching her favorite game show, Wheel of Fortune, and traveling.  Her last days were spent making special memories with family and friends by traveling to Dallas, the Hill Country, and Branson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Fern Long, husband James A. (Toodler) Rials, and her bonus daughter, Shawn Rials Duke.

Jan is survived by her sons, Chris Sander and wife Melissa of Palestine, Jason Sander of Elkhart; and daughter, Robin Taylor and husband Glenn of Alderbranch; her bonus son, Chunk Linn and wife Susie of Elkhart; two brothers, Spencer and Dennis Long; eight granddaughters, McKenze, McKayla, Maddie, Mallorie, Colbi, Abby, Laney, Rhealee; one grandson, Dutch; three great-granddaughters, Meah, Macy, and Emersyn; and a special bonus grandson, Josh Kirkley and wife Katheryn of Dallas; and her dear, special friend and neighbor, Wanda, with whom she shared stories, laughter, and tea.  She loved her church family, Lakeside Baptist Church, and awaits the day of having a glad reunion day with each and every one of them in Heaven.

A celebration of life service to honor Jan's life is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 24th day of July 2021 at Lakeside Baptist Church with Bro. Steve McCann officiating.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family, at two o’clock, prior to the start of the service at Lakeside Baptist Church.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Taylor, David Hart, Chunk Linn, Greg Molandes, Danny Bourns and Chris Landes.

In honor of Jan and to celebrate her life, she asks everyone to wear bright colors. No mourning because she knows that she is in Heaven with her Lord!

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be directed towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
