Frank Kenneth Masak was born November 18, 1940 and raised in South Lyon, MI on a farm. He was the middle child of three children. Frank passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in Pocatello, ID, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ermina Masak; his sister, Anne English; his brother, Carl Masak; and his daughter, Wendee Masak. He is survived by his wife, DeeAnne; daughter, Deborah Masak; son, Dwight Masak (Regina); and granddaughter, Dita Masak. In his teens he enjoyed football, fishing, hunting, trapping on the farm, camping, and swimming in Silver Lake close to his home with his friends. After graduating from Brighton High School in 1958, he attended business school in Ann Arbor, MI. Then he had a calling, “go west young man”, and packed up and moved to Missoula, MT in search for a better education at the University of Montana in forestry. He had an interest in how things grew in nature. Frank also worked for the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) in Idaho Falls, ID, which supplemented his forestry education. He fell in love with the west and then with his wife, DeeAnne Dickover, who he met in Idaho Falls, ID in the summer of 1962. They were happily married for 56 years. Frank and DeeAnne moved to Missoula, MT shortly after marriage and built their first home. They later moved to Pocatello, ID where he continued his education at Idaho State Vocational School. He was a proud member of the Ironworkers Local 732 for 40 years. Frank was one of a kind, genuine, quick with humor, and there wasn’t a person he didn’t like. He was sincerely interested in people and enjoyed hearing everyone’s life story. Frank enjoyed camping with his family, building things out of wood or metal and fishing earlier in his life – his favorite was fly fishing. We still can’t believe you are gone, Dad. We miss you!
