Hazel Elizabeth FREEMAN

Hazel Elizabeth (Betty) Freeman (February 26, 1931 – July 21, 2021) Betty was born in Kitchener, Ontario and lived in Cambridge (Preston) with her family until she married her one true love, Fred in June of 1951. Together for over 68 years, they built a wonderful life together. Betty was an incredible mother, grand-mother and great-grand mother. Betty has been called to her forever home, to once again, continue her journey with Dad who left us in December 2019. Betty is predeceased by her parents Albert Kent (1983) and Fleeta Kent (1987) as well as her sister Eileen Jackson (1996). Betty is an Aunt to many nieces and nephews located in Ontario and Saskatchewan. Fred and Betty have three children. Bill (Gail) live in Orillia, Jim (Donna) live in Woodstock, and Diane (Peter) live in Waterloo. Fred and Betty are very proud of their three children, 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. Betty poured her whole self into being the best wife and mother to Fred and her children. She kept a spotless house, and dinner was always on the table for 5:30 pm. Betty was a talented quilter and created many “one-of-a-kind” gifts, now memories, for her extended family. Betty liked to stay out of the spotlight. She was Fred’s “Rock of Gibraltar” as he pursued his many passions including the founding a wholesale company called Rentquip Supply Limited, which supplied Canadian rental stores with new equipment. Betty willingly gave of her time and talents over the years through her volunteer work with the Lioness’ club, Woodstock General Hospital Auxiliary, St. David’s United Church, and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) where she often worked at their second had store known as the “Op-Shop”. Fred and Betty loved Woodstock and valued the many friends and neighbours who help to weave a tapestry of memories and stories. In 2019, Fred and Betty moved to Oxford Garden’s where they both received the very best of care. Friends and family will be received to celebrate the lives of Betty and Fred on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00pm at St. David’s United Church, 190 Springbank Ave., in Woodstock with Pastor Bill Freeman officiating.
