Betty Agan

Betty Agan, 76, of Palestine, IL, died on July 22, 2021, in the comfort of her home. Betty was born on March 25, 1945, in Montgomery Township, the daughter of Wilbur & Dorothy (Kent) Dunlap, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Donald Agan on August 28, 1976, and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1999. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Dunlap and by her sisters, Juanita Brown, Deloris (Lora) Keys-French, Arlene Matheney and Mary Kathryn Collins. She is survived by her children & spouses, Jennifer & Ronald Steiner (Terre Haute, IN) and Jason & Whittney Agan (Palestine, IL); by her grandchildren, Caleb & Briana Higgins, Lindsay Mendenhall, Kyle & Sydney Stewart, Summer Agan, Bryar Agan, Olivia Agan, Marcus & Elizabeth Steiner and Alex & Megan Steiner; by great-grandchildren, Haily, Avery, Westin, Ella, Lyla, Easton, Georgia, Harrison, Riley; by her sisters, Alice & Kenny Coonce (Palestine, IL) and Judy Plummer (Annapolis, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Betty was born and raised in the Crawford County area where she attended grade school in Pinkstaff and Hardinville before graduating from Oblong High School. She would work for Victor Dana for several years until her retirement. Away from work she loved riding the motorcycle with her husband, Donald. She also found enjoyment in gardening and tending to her plants. Her true pride and joy were being with her family. She looked for any and every reason to gather her loved ones together and simply lit up watching her grandkids and great grandkids play. By all accounts, they brought life to her living and were each the apple of her eye. Now that Betty is gone, we find comfort knowing that the love she so freely gave us lives on in our hearts and will continue to serve as her legacy for as long as we live. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31st at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Alzheimer's Association" with envelopes available at the funeral home.
