<p>Rex Timothy &ldquo;Tim&rdquo; Darnell, 66, of Poplar Bluff, passed away, Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.</p> <p>Tim was born January 16, 1955, to John and Patsy (Hendrix) Darnell in Gideon, Missouri.&nbsp; He and Debra (Cunningham) Darnell were married May 6, 1977, in Broseley, Missouri.</p> <p>Tim enlisted in the United States Army on January 7, 1975 and was honorably discharged December 14, 1978.&nbsp; He later served for the Missouri National Guard.&nbsp; Tim was a federal police officer for John J. Pershing VA Medical Center for 37 years.&nbsp; He also served as a reserve deputy for the Butler County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department for 23 years. Tim served on the board at Ozark Federal Credit Union for 25 year.&nbsp;</p> <p>Tim had an outgoing personality who enjoyed life and the many things that went with it.&nbsp; He could be found on the weekends singing karaoke with his good friend, Greg, or going to yard sales with the love of his life, Debra.&nbsp; He loved dancing with everyone. He enjoyed the outdoor world of camping, ATV riding and fishing, especially Norfolk Lake.&nbsp; Most of all he loved spending time with his family, his children and his loving grandchildren.&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to his wife of 44 years, Tim is survived by two children, Christopher Darnell and Amanda and husband, Ashley Rommel all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Kylie &ldquo;Junebug&rdquo; Darnell, Dalton &ldquo;Bullet&rdquo; Rommel, Natalea &ldquo;Spider&rdquo; Rommel, and Alaina &ldquo;Bubbles&rdquo; Rommel all of Poplar Bluff; three siblings, John Wayne (Kay) Darnell of Wappapello, Beverly Burnell of Poplar Bluff, and Sherry (Richard) Kays of Poplar Bluff; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.</p> <p>Tim was preceded in death by his parents.</p> <p>Visitation will be held Monday, July 26, 2021, from 4-6 PM at Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 10 AM at Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services with the Chaplain Bill Hatch officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery</p>

Tim was literally one of the best men I have EVER known! Tim Darnell was a MAJOR factor in getting me on the right road in life. I often think about the selfless time he put in & where I would be if he hadn’t. I will never forget him & I am eternally grateful!

Tim was our patrol officer when we had our Legion Pick-nic   He was allot of fun to be around..Always had a big smile on his face.  RIP Tim.  Prayers to the family.

Tim was a good man! I served in Desert storm with him and he stood by my side when I was in and out of the hospital before my transplant..my wife Deanna Kidd and I always had a great friendship with Tim for over 30 years! We are definitely gonna miss you Tim Darnell! RIP... Continue Reading

I worked with Tim at the VA for over 25 years, he always had a smile and loved a good joke. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and this community, which he served for so long. May the God of all comfort, comfort you .

I was an old Army buddy if Tim's while we where stationed in Germany. Tim even lived with us for a short time. Sorry for the loss of a great man. Will see you soon brother.
