Georgia Ann Howell Dykes, 83, of Valdosta died Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at South GA Medical Center. She was born on September 18, 1937 in Valdosta to the late Wilton Ardell Howell and Ada Maude McLeod Howell. Mrs. Dykes retired after twenty five years as lunchroom manager from Lowndes Middle School food service. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Dykes enjoyed studying family history and genealogy. The family gives special appreciation to Mother’s caretaker and friend, Brandy Nesmith. Mrs. Dykes is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Billy Howell and her sister, Sandra Dasher. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Jerry Dykes of Valdosta, her sister, Brenda Gallagher (Chris) of Waycross, three daughters, Jeri McCoy, Jill Grondahl (Kevin) and Julie Dykes, all of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Matt McCoy, Evan McCoy and Emily Grondahl and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. David Nelson and Mr. Westley Hazel officiating. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one until two p. m. prior to the service.
