Richard F. Vondenhuevel, 92, of Sidney, passed away on Thursday July 22, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family at 9:45 AM. He was born on June 5, 1929 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Charles (Arline Liller) Vondenhuevel and they are deceased. On July 26, 1951 he married Anna Marie (Varno) Vondenhuevel and she is deceased. Richard is survived by his three children, Richard Jr. (Sandra) Vondenhuevel, of Houston; Cheryl Spangler, and Gary (Kim) Vondenhuevel, both of Sidney; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  Richard is also survived by one sibling, Thomas Vondenhuevel, of Sidney. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Anna Marie, brothers, Charles Jr., Don, and Chet and sisters, Pat, Loretta, and Audrey.

Richard attended Hardin schools.  Richard was a lifelong farmer. Farming was Richards’ passion. In 1991, Richard retired from Central Transport/General highway. Richard was a United States Air Force veteran and served our country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion.  Richard loved to ride around on the golf cart, he always enjoyed his sweets, but Richard loved spending time with his family, and grandchildren the most. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Aaron Hess. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney with military honors by the Sidney American Legion/VFW combined and the US Air Force honor guard. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4-7 PM, and Thursday 9:00 – 9:30 AM. The American Legion will have a prayer service on Wednesday at 6:45 PM. Condolences may be made to the Vondenhuevel family online at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to Wilson Hospice. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to be taking care of the Vondenhuevel family.
