Joyce A. Dahlgren Obituary

Joyce Allene Dahlgren, 87, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at GracePointe Crossing.

            She was born October 8, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Ida (Jacobson) Codling.  Joyce grew up in Cleveland and graduated high school.  Following high school, she went to Minnesota and attended Bethel College.  While working at a church in Minneapolis, Joyce met Edward Dahlgren and the two were married on June 21, 1958.  They moved to Cambridge where their two children were born Gracia and Eric.  In 1963 the family moved to Worthington.  After five years they moved to Willmar and lived there until 1974 when they moved to British Columbia.  In 1977 the family returned to Cambridge.  Joyce worked for a time at Sears and later as a secretary at First Baptist Church, from which she retired.

            Joyce was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, and was a foster grandparent at the Cambridge Schools and Cambridge Christian School.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed in May 1983, and brother George Codling.  Joyce is survived by her daughter Gracia (Scott) Gartland of Holly Springs, NC, her son Eric Dahlgren of Raleigh, NC, three grandchildren Taylor Gartland or Winston Salem, NC, Lauren Gartland of Los Angeles, CA, Connor Dahlgren Glenwood, MN, sister-in-law Gretchen Codling, nieces Niki (Codling) Poppa, Kris (Codling) Stieg, and other relatives and friend.  

       A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Cambridge Union Cemetery.
