JP Caldwell Obituary

JP Caldwell, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at his home.

JP was born July 24, 1933 in Tennessee to the late George Washington Caldwell and the late Annie Price Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene Caldwell, sister, Viola Hall, and infant siblings, Esther and his twin brother Hugh.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Albemarle officiated by Chris Raborn. Burial will immediately follow at the Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 22182 Canton Rd., Albemarle.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth (Kim) Caldwell of Charlotte, NC and Joel (Laura) Caldwell of Albemarle, NC, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

JP was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Midway during the Korean War. He worked as service manager for Pump and Lighting Company in Charlotte for many years, until his retirement, and also served as Deacon at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. JP enjoyed gardening and loved music. He was an accomplished musician of many instruments and played in a bluegrass band, The Ridgecrest Boys.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie.
