<p>John Carl Chernisky, 76, of Washington (South Franklin Twp.) died Thursday, July 22, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters.</p> <p>He was born June 27, 1945 in Spangler, PA (Cambria County), son of the late Joseph and Louise Chernisky. He was a graduate of Northern Cambria High School and went on to work as a maintenance foreman and electrician in the coal mining industry. He completed numerous technical and trade certifications throughout his life while working in many locations across the country. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>He proudly served in the United States Army, training at Ft. Leonard Wood as an Equipment Repairman, and earned Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals prior to his discharge. &nbsp;</p> <p>On May 25, 1968 in New Jersey, he married the former Cindy Leyo, who survives. The two would go on to share in 53 years of marriage.</p> <p>John enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching his grandchildren, Justice and Danny, grow. He was an avid fisherman and particularly enjoyed his many fishing trips with his brother Dave. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling with his family and sharing his knowledge about repairs and projects.</p> <p>In addition to his wife Cindy, he is survived by two daughters; Michelle (Daniel) Hudak, of Ebensburg, PA and Karina (Mitchell) Diamond, of Shepherdstown, WV as well as two grandchildren, Justice Hudak and Daniel Hudak, Jr. He is also survived by three brothers; David (Betty) Chernisky, of Ohio, George Chernisky, of Tennessee and Tom &ldquo;Carl&rdquo; (Donna) Chernisky, of Maryland.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by two brothers; Joey Chernisky and Ronald Chernisky as well as a sister, Dolores Keith.</p> <p>Per John&rsquo;s wishes, all arrangements are private and entrusted to Davenport Funeral &amp; Cremation Services, LLC., 420 Locust Avenue Washington, PA.</p> <p>An online guestbook may be signed at www.davenportfuneralservice.com</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

John Carl Chernisky, 76, of Washington (South Franklin Twp.) died Thursday, July 22, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters.

He was born June 27, 1945 in Spangler, PA (Cambria County), son of the late Joseph and Louise Chernisky.
