Annie Ruth Ridge Coy, 92, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Johnson Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Franklin, Indiana. Mrs. Coy was born August 5, 1928, in Celina, Tennessee, the loving daughter of Floyd and Clara Johnson Ridge. On August 13, 1946, Ruth married D. Neil Coy; he preceded her in death December 14, 2020. Mrs. Coy was raised in Tennessee and attended school there. For many years, Mrs. Coy worked for the Jay C Food Store in East Columbus and at West Hill. Mrs. Coy was a 60 year member of Old Union Christian Church, and she was a current member of Westside Community Church. For 25 years, she found much happiness spending time at their summer home on the Ohio River in Milton, Kentucky. She enjoyed gardening and she had a passion for cooking. She showed her love to family and friends by always offering them a delicious meal including a piece of pie of which she was known for. Mrs. Coy loved her family and always cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Her life will be cherished by her children, Steven N. (Susan) Coy of Columbus and Connie Sue Coy (Denny Jr.) Taylor of Columbus; grandchildren, Elijah (Elizabeth) Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor (Justin) Recca, Grace Coy (Joel) Campbell, Isaac (Erica) Coy, Amy (Josh) Griege, Matthew (Melissa) Coy, John DeBolt and Elizabeth DeBolt; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Coy of Nineveh and Barbara Yates of Greenwood; and brothers, James D. Ridge of Franklin and Bob (Jeanette) Ridge of Oklahoma. Mrs. Coy was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Clara Ridge; husband, Neil Coy; and brothers, Edgar and Thomas Ridge. The funeral service celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Robert Vester will officiate. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at barkesweaverglick.com. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Coy will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Garden of Christus at the Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Community Church, cards are available at the funeral home.
