Betty Jeanne Tacy passed peacefully on July 20, 2021, surrounded by family.

Betty was born in Niles, Michigan to Donald H. Winter Sr. and Phyllis A. Winter on September 2, 1965.

Betty earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s in forensic science. She was employed by Sacred Heart and was active in the AIDS community and did work with the AIDS Ministries. She was passionately involved in her sobriety for several years and worked tirelessly in service of others with volunteer work in many places.

Betty was a die-hard Cubbies and Notre Dame fan. She was a lover of music and a beautiful pianist since childhood. She adored watching Jeopardy with her mother and the news. She was a dedicated and independent woman who strove for love and peace throughout her life. Her biggest hobby was community involvement and acts of service. It was one of her greatest goals to help and be there for as many people as possible. A powerful activist for the LGBTQ+ community. She was relentless in her humor and ability to uplift others.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents Donald H. Winter Sr. and Phyllis A. Winter and her dear Aunt Dolly.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Nicole Winter; her Sisters, Lynn Wisniewski (Ken), and Sherry Steiner; Her three Grandchildren, Jane, Alex, and Nora; Her best friend, Kathy; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; and her two cats (Cookie and Poppy).

Betty was well-loved and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 23rd at 10:00 am at Palmer Funeral Home- River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
