Kenneth "Kenny" Newsome

<p>On July 22nd&nbsp;Kenneth Allen Newsome, &ldquo;Whip&rdquo; to many, was called home. He loved and was loved by his community for which he was so proud. Kenny, the son of the late Kent and Mabel Newsome, was born on April 24, 1939 in Augusta, Ga. &nbsp;A devoted company man for Georgia Power for over 36 years, he would often say &ldquo;This is the only job I&rsquo;ve ever had&rdquo;. &nbsp;Prior to moving to Lincoln County over 27 years ago, he was a resident of Evans, Ga. He enjoyed golfing and horseback riding, as well as cheering on his beloved Lincoln County Red Devils every Friday night in the fall.</p> <p>He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Iris &quot;Risa&quot; Morris Newsome and their son, Kenneth &quot;Nat&rdquo; Allen Newsome, Jr. (Melissa). At the core of his heart were his 3 young grandchildren Briar Kent, Saylor Rose and Isla Louise. Along with his wife, he was a founding member of New Work Baptist Church and as such his service will be held August 4th&nbsp;at NWBC, 4900 Double Branches Rd, Lincolnton Ga 30817. Visitation will be held from 6-7pm with Pastor Jerry Owens delivering the service at 7pm. All who knew him are welcome.</p> <p>&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, we ask a donation be made to the Parkinson&rsquo;s Foundation in Kenny&rsquo;s honor.&nbsp;www.parkinson.org.</p> <p>Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Kenneth Allen Newsome.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Obituary

On July 22nd Kenneth Allen Newsome, “Whip” to many, was called home. He loved and was loved by his community for which he was so proud. Kenny, the son of the late Kent and Mabel Newsome, was born on April 24, 1939 in Augusta, Ga.  A devoted company man for Georgia Power for over 36 years, he would often say “This is the only job I’ve ever had”.  Prior to moving to Lincoln County over 27 years ago, he was a resident of Evans, Ga.
