Sis. Mattie Eurene Clemons was born October 17, 1930 to the proud parents Frank and Mattie Johnson in Florence, Alabama. She married Charley Lincoln Clemons January 9, 1950 in Florence, Alabama. After their first child was born she relocated with her husband and daughter Mattie to Lima, Ohio. Sis. Mattie Clemons moved back to Florence, AL with her husband in 1993 after he retired. She stayed in Florence until Nov. 17, 2011 then moved to Enterprise, AL with her daughter Deborah and son-in-law W.H. Bush until she received her keys on her 82 birthday to her BRAND NEW APARTMENT she made her home.

Sis. Mattie Clemons obeyed the Gospel and was baptized by her son-in-law, Bro. W.H. Bush on December 18, 2011. She loved to hear her preacher preach and praising the Lord every Sunday. Whenever there was a Gospel meeting at any of the sister churches in the wiregrass she would get on the church van. She was loved by her brothers, sisters and children at the Daleville Heights Church of Christ and the Sister Congregation in this area. Sister Mattie Clemons just loved her New Apartment, her New Home. Mattie was well known at Heron Cove II. If Sis. Mattie was sitting on her patio and you pass by she would speak and ask you what was your name. Everyone just loved Ms. Mattie at Heron Cove II. Her humble spirit and beautiful smile. Her Heron Cove friends would know when she was away from home because she would not be on her patio. She loved sitting on the patio reading her Bible and working her puzzle books.

Sis. Mattie Clemons was a faithful to the Senior Citizens, she was ready every morning Monday thru Friday waiting for the bus. Whenever there was a field trip, proms, or any other activities Sis. Mattie was there to participate. While she was going to the Senior Citizen on Tuesday the center started Art Class so Sis. Mattie started going and found out that she was a talented Artist, drawing and painting beautiful pictures. Her daughter Deborah would say Mother if you had known that you were and artist we would have been rolling in the money and she would smile saying “I know.” The Senior Citizen Center will miss her beautiful smile and her sweet humble spirit. WE ALL ARE GOING TO MISS

HER PRESENCE BUT WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE HER SPIRIT WITH US. Sis.
