Mr. Wayne LaVaughn North was born August 14, 1949 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Dorothy Jean Baugh and Henry North.  He was nurtured and loved dearly by his grandparents the late Theo and Fannie Hargrove.

 

At an early age Wayne joined Mount Nebo Baptist Church. He was a member of  Northview Christian Church in Dothan. He loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing the goodness of the Lord through gospel music.   One of his favorite songs was “God has  Smiled on Me”.  Mr. North was definitely a pillar in the community.

 

Wayne graduated from Pearl Cohn High School in Nashville, Tennessee,  studied Sociology at Wallace College, Dothan Alabama, Studied Criminal Justice at Troy University, Studied Adult Education at Auburn University, attended  Tennessee State University and did further studies at Jones School of Law -Montgomery and  Bethany Divinity College and Seminary. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity INC. He joined the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Rucker, followed by a stint in Germany.  He was married Sandra Boykin North for 29  years.  In this union,  he was blessed with three beautiful children Terri North Byrts, Wayne LaVaughn North II (Rudi) and Chase Alexander North.  He later married Juanita Ware North and they shared a union for 18 years. Necy adored her husband, they loved to  travel and visit their children, grandchildren and family.  She was always totally vested in all of his dreams and aspirations.

 

Wayne North was a teacher at Vivian B. Adams School, the Director of Adult Basic Education for Ozark City Schools, Pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church, a UPS drivers, manager at Hardee’s-Eufaula, a gospel radio DJ and talk show host,  and center director of Autrey Recreation Center. However, he was most known for his passion of being an entrepreneur  and starting multiple businesses in Ozark Alabama.  He owned Northwind Learning Center, was a concert promoter of Windsong Productions, was the  owner of many businesses including Wayne’s World Gym, Saturn’s Night Club, TRC’s Clothing Store, Que Joe’s Barbeque, a local radio station and Fannie’s Cafe.   

 

During his spare time he loved to be involved with the youth in the community.  He started the  S.C. Jackson Singers, Right Stuff Teen Club, taught many children and adults to swim.  He touched many lives and was loved, admired and respected by all.

 

The Lord called him home on July 18, 2021 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama with his wife Necy right by his side.  The gates of heaven opened up and extended a welcome invitation to sing in the Heavenly Choir. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and fondly remembered by his family, friends and loved ones.

 

Wayne leaves a many precious and fond memories that will forever be cherished  by his devoted wife, Juanita (Necy) North. Three Children, Terri (Danny) Byrts- Tuscaloosa AL ,Wayne  (Akilah) L. North II -Rudi,-Jacksonville, FL, Chase A. North- Chattanooga, TN,  one step son Charles Kidd Jr. (Chuck) Ozark, Al, Five grandchildren, Spencer Alexander George,  Zoe  Jackson, Jahkobi Sandre North, Tori Alexandra North, Jahari Dontallo North.  One brother proceeded him in death James Edward North, One brother Harold North,-Nashville, TN  six sisters Geraldine Williams, Nashville,TN, Barbara Timberlake Newnan, GA, Terri Lynn (James) Johnson Nashville, TN, Jacqueline Baugh Nashville, TN, Sharon Hale Nashville,TN, Twylah North, Nashville, TN, Deitra North Hayes Nashville, TN, three sister in laws, Diane Nance Memphis, TN and Annie Kate West Ozark AL, Helen Edwards , El Paso, TX, three brother-in laws, Roy ( Annette) Ware Dothan, AL , Kery (Veronica) Ware Ozark, Al , Richard (Emma) Ware Orange, VA,  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
