Darlene J. (Baker) MaVeety

Darlene J. (Baker) MaVeety, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at her home. Darlene was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 17, 1933. She was of the Christian faith and accepted the Lord into her heart at an early age at Asbury United Methodist Church. She married her first husband, Fred Berry Sr, having a son, Fred Berry Jr. shortly after. She later married her second husband, Garvin MaVeety in 1962, having a son, Thomas MaVeety Sr. She stayed home taking care of the family for years before returning to the work force. Darlene worked for the County Clerks Office for Shirley Jean Cox, Helen Kuebler and retiring under Betty Knight Smith in 1996. Her remaining years were spent with her son and daughter-in-law, then grandchildren, relaxing with crossword puzzles, going out to eat and loving her family. Darlene had a loving heart and contagious smile that will always be remembered. Darlene is survived by her sons, Fred Berry (Sue) and Thomas MaVeety Sr. (Dinah); half brothers, Alan, Charles, Joe and Fred Dillingham; grandchildren, Sonya Haule (Brian), Mitch Berry, Thomas MaVeety, Jr. and Madolyn MaVeety; great-grandchildren, Simon Haule and Mary Haule; special nephew, John Dillingham Jr. as well as his mother, Betty Dillingham; and several other nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Alma (Lipking) Baker; her father, Thomas Baker; her paternal father, John Dillingham; and brothers and sister-in-law, Harvey Dillingham (Mary), and John Dillingham Sr. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday July 23, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 1800 St. George Rd., Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor David Niednagel officiating.
