Carl E. Lucy, a lifelong resident of Beacon, entered into rest surrounded by his family on July 18, 2021 at home. He was 91 years old.

Carl was born in Beacon on September 17, 1929 the son of the late William and Anna Zeyak Lucy. Carl served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 when he was honorably discharged. On February 10, 1967 at St. Joachim Church, he married the former Lucinda Letterio. Mrs. Lucy survives at home.

Carl retired as a corrections officer with NYSDOC where he worked at Fishkill Correctional Facility. After his retirement from corrections, Carl worked for IBM in security for another 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a member of Mase Hook & Ladder Company. He also was a longtime member of St. Rocco’s Society.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his children, Celeste Lucy Ormerod and Matthew Lucy and his wife, Cheryl; his grandchildren, Raymond Carl Ormerod, Elizabeth Ann Ormerod, Katherine Lucy Ormerod and Kyle Matthew Lucy; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his brothers, William, Jr. and Douglas and his sister, Marie Simmonds.

Carl loved the outdoors – fishing, bird watching, beekeeping and gardening. He had a passion for golf and for many years enjoyed playing with friends and family. Carl was known for his sense of humor, kindness and love of animals.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
