Andrew English Jr.

The Obituary Andrew English, Jr. Affectionately known as “AJ” to most “Butch” “Stooch” Andrew English, Jr. was born on November 29, 1947, in Uriah, Alabama, to the union of the Late Andrew and Augustine English. He was the 2nd of twelve children. AJ accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Reverend Perryman of Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Uriah, Alabama. He served there faithfully in various capacities, until he moved to Pensacola as an adult. AJ received his education in Monroe County Public Schools and graduated from Union High School, Monroeville, AL in 1965. After relocating to Pensacola, he worked for Haber Produce and was united in Holy Matrimony to the Late Ms. Betty J. Tucker. To this union, two children were born: Christopher and Chandra. AJ was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1967. He served two years, of which one year was in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, E-6. AJ received an Honorable Discharge in December 1969 and was later transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group. In 1970, he was employed as a Machinist by Armstrong World Industries. In 1976, AJ met and married Ms. Judith Trawick. To this union, two children were born: Andranette and Keith. He continued his military career, serving his country in the U.S. Army Reserve until he retired in 2003. Concurrently, AJ continued working with Armstrong World Industries until he retired. In 2004, AJ joined Greater Little Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ervin McWilson. He worked diligently, usually behind the scenes, helping to prepare food items for special occasions. AJ also assisted with several projects that the Men’s Group was promoting. He was an avid and devoted Sunday School participant and endeavored to have Perfect Attendance every year. AJ attended and supported Church services regularly until his health began to diminish. Nevertheless, Deacon-elect Pierre Martin and other members transported him, without hesitation, to and from Church Services. “AJ” truly loved his Church and Church Family. In 2007, AJ met and married Ms. Renee Blount. To this union, one daughter was born: Kanisha. Among the many things in life AJ enjoyed, were traveling, fishing, farming, restoring old cars, cooking and catering! Above all, he enjoyed baking Red Velvet and Five Flavored Pound Cakes. Late Sunday night, on July 18th, God, in his omnipotence, touched his body, ceased his heartbeat and led him to that promised home of peace and eternal rest.
