Obituary
Alblas, Tony Tony (Antonie) Christiaan Alblas was born March 22, 1936 in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Predeceased by his parents Jan and Marie Alblas, his sister Margaret Jansma and his brother Clarence Alblas. Tony is survived by his 2 remaining sisters Tineke Alblas, and Jeanne Lise. Tony immigrated to Canada and moved to Guelph Ont. where he met the love of his life Tena (Top) Alblas and were married August 8, 1959. He was the loving dad of Sylvia (John), John (Dawn), Ed (Annette) and Rod (Collette); the precious opa of Melissa (Mike), Steven (Lauren) , Kevin (Jerica) , Kristianna (Matt), James, Dan (Sierra) , Chris, Amanda, Tim (Megan) , Nathan (Anastasiya) , Mariah (Dylan), Antonie (Rachel), Katrina (Justin), Sebastian and dear great opa of Kayleigh, Tyler, Delilah, Brayden, Vivienne, Wesley, Hunter, Judah, and Harlee. Tony and his family moved to Ottawa in 1967 to begin his career at Skyline Cablevision, where he continued to work most of his career. He worked as a telecommunications engineer for his entire career and was highly recognized for his leadership and innovation in the industry, receiving a national award for engineering innovation in 1988. Tony was a very humble man who was remembered by many as “the Man with the White Beard, Santa, and of course Kenny Rogers” He was also very involved in his local churches taking on leadership roles wherever he went. He loved singing in choirs, including the Ottawa Male Choir, and playing his harmonica even into his last days. Most of all he cherished his family and just loved to spend time with all of them. Dad we love you and will miss you and will be forever in all of our hearts. Visitation to be held at Kemptville Christian Reformed Church on 2457 County Road #18, Kemptville on Friday, July 23rd from 6:00-9:00pm and the Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 24th at 11am at the church. Covid Protocols must be followed. Masks are required, and a sign up sheet will be at the door as you come in. Tony also enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army and could be seen with Mom, during Christmas time, ringing the bells and collecting donations. Donations can be made to the Kemptville Salvation Army in Lieu of flowers.
