Later in life one of his favourite pass times was fixing things and maintaining a nice yard at the church in Brockville. He resided in Brockville for the last 20 years of his life.

He was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. His mum Sylvia was quite proud of his “chef” abilities and enjoyed him cooking for her.
