Gloria Adames-Sotomayor

Gloria Adames-Sotomayor, loving wife and mother, passed away on Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at the age of 62. Born at home on October 24th , 1958, in Lares, Puerto Rico, to Ana H. Martinez and Baldomero Adames. At age 7, moved to Brooklyn, New York from Puerto Rico with her six siblings; Elba Adames, Vicky Adames Luciano (1954-2006), Gladys Rivera, Angel Adames, Luis Adames, Teresa Morales. At age 16, moved to New London, Connecticut where she graduated from New London High School in 1977. Gloria is survived by her partner of 36 years, Ben Sinica as well as four sons; David Ayala, Angel Ayala, Carlos Sotomayor, and Brett Sinica. Following her sons would come her greatest blessings in the form of grandchildren: Jordon and Yesenea Ayala; Natalia Ayala and Jazleen Lopez; and Adonis and Ronin Sotomayor. Gloria was a great influence and inspiration in the community holding many titles; teacher, mentor, secretary, church leader, family advocate and school coordinator. Gloria was heavily involved in the public school system within New London County, helping kids of all ages. In addition to education, she was a passionate member of the Christian community through the Oasis of Restoration Church, where she was an active volunteer and held many different leadership positions. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, sewing, art & crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family. She possessed an infectious sense of humor that brightened every room and provided a caring demeanor in all situations. Gloria was an inspiration to many with her vibrant personality and will be forever missed. Calling hours will be held from 6-7 PM followed by church service on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 at the Oasis of Restoration Church at 35 Redden Ave, New London, CT 06320. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation towards funeral expenses, or a donation to the Oasis Restoration Shadai Dance Ministry.
