Funeral services for Tom Larry Hoobler, 74, will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Childress with Henry Salley officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitaiton will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.

He passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 in Childress County.

He was born December 24, 1946, in Pampa, Texas, to Caylor and Polly Williams Hoobler. He

married Lila Holman August 24, 1968 in Tell Methodist Church. He graduated West Texas State University in 1970 and was retired from the Texas Department of Health and Wichita County Sheriff’s Dept.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Childress.

He enjoyed law enforcement, his animals, reading, the rain gauge, and his coffee friends: Jim Dowis, cousin David Douglas, Harvey Dobbs, and Talmadge Porter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin granddaughters Lila Katherine in 2006 and Kylie Allison in 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Lila; daughters Katherine Monroe and husband, Troy, of Hedley and Cayla Hoobler of Anson; brother Max Hoobler of Rockport; grandchildren, Paul, William, Caylor, Collin and Devon Monroe, Jaycee, Patrick, and Suzanne Overton, and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in Childress, Paducah, Iowa Park, Clarendon, or Anson or The 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.
