Dixie Amelia Ezell Baxley

Dixie Amelia Ezell Baxley was born on September 19, 1939 in Perry, Florida. In 1959, she married Vernon Bernice Baxley. His job as an airline mechanic took them to Jacksonville, FL to Hapeville, GA and to Fayetteville, GA. For the past eleven years, she has been a resident of Country Gardens Assisted Living. Dixie and Vernon had three children: Bernie (deceased), Brett (deceased) and Jana Grace Williams (Brian Williams). She was the proud grandmother of Brandon Baxley, Joshua (and Molly) Baxley, Jackson Baxley and Joey Baxley. Her great-granddaughter is Flora Baxley and she is also survived by Brett’s wife, Melanie. Other survivors include her sister, Janie Massey, two brothers, Billy Ezell and Ted Ezell, and many nieces and nephews. Dixie was an active volunteer in the Fayette County Public Schools. She also worked as a Library Aide and then Office Clerk at Fayette County High School. Dixie served for 10 years as a USPS Rural Letter Carrier. She was generous, friendly, kind, and smart. Dixie loved her family. She and Vernon enjoyed traveling and visited much of the world. Family and friends will remember her big smile and how she always wore red lipstick. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you consider doing an act of kindness for someone. or, to thank the incredible people that serve our seniors as the staff of Country Gardens Senior Living with gift cards. Graveside funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00AM in Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet guest following the service.
