Raymond Lawrence Varela was called to heaven on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.  He was born August 10, 1977 in Albuquerque to Ernesto and Erlinda Varela.  Raymond attended Pecos Independent Schools and graduated from Pecos High in 1997.  He attended Northern New Mexico College in Espanola.  He graduated with an associate’s degree in radiology.  He was employed with Christus St. Vincent and Pecos Valley Medical Center.  He was a mischievous, fun, loving and caring person.  He enjoyed spending time with the children and making many adventures.  He loved the great outdoors and making people laugh.  He was a dedicated Raider fan and a loving father to his daughter Arrayah. He is proceeded in death by his loving fiancé Erica Dalton, nephew Marcus Varela, brother-in- law Johnny Ortega, cousin Brandon Quintana and extended deceased family members. He is survived by his beautiful daughter Arrayah, Mother Erlinda Varela, Father Ernesto Varela, Godfather Eluterio Varela Jr. and Godmother Sixta Varela sisters Ernestine Quintana (Brian), Evelyn Ortega (Martin Armijo), Denise Varela, brothers Gabriel Varela (Jennifer), Ruben Varela (Anjelica) his god son Lucas Varela and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 22nd at 10:00 am, rosary at 11:00 and mass to follow at St. Anthony’s Church in Pecos.  Burial will be at El Macho Canyon and reception to follow at Pecos Sheriff’s Posse.
