Narcissus K. Sims Obituary

Narcissus K. “Pennie” Sims, 70, passed away July 18, 2021. Pennie was the daughter of Weaver and Willie Mae King, who predeceased her. She is survived by a son, Marcus King Sims, and aunts Dorothy T. Clarke and Hazel Harrison. She leaves behind special sisters Rebecca Hudson and Ramona Ramos, devoted cousins Theresa Benton, Robert Clarke III, and Franklin Clarke, a special daughter Tamika Smallwood, and special grandson Jayden Smallwood. In addition to a host of other relatives and friends, she leaves to mourn special sons De’Markeo Hurdle, Marcus Johnson, Mike Wiggy Wilkins, Darius Mason, and Mike Ponds. Pennie graduated from I.C. Norcom High School Class of ’68 and obtained degrees from Virginia State University and the University of Virginia among other institutions. She taught in the Portsmouth and Virginia Beach school systems. Pennie was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church. She loved hearing the preaching of the anointed word of God. She enjoyed organizing travel trips with friends. She loved also her time working with the I.C. Norcom Football Parents Association and the Greyhound football players.
