<p>Walter J. Geckler</p> <p>Age 73, of Canton, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021.&nbsp; He was born August 18, 1947 in Canton, a son of the late Walter M. &ldquo;Tubby&rdquo; and Hazel (Broad) Geckler, and resided all his life in Canton, Magnolia and East Sparta.&nbsp; Walter was a 1965 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School, and retired in 1990 from The Timken Company after 28 years&rsquo; service.&nbsp; He enjoyed coaching his grandson Cole&rsquo;s baseball team.</p> <p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Kathy S. Geckler, on Sept. 28, 2016.&nbsp; Walter is survived by two daughters and one son, Paula (Gary) Walker, Sharon Geckler and Harry &quot;Junior&quot; Saunier, and James Geckler, PhD and son-in-law, Joseph Sorah, four grandchildren and two&nbsp;great-grandchildren, Kayla Geckler, Cole Geckler and his children, Nova and Ethan, Tyler Walker and Alyssa Walker.&nbsp;</p> <p>Services will be held Friday at 12 Noon in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Chaplain&nbsp;Joe Kampert officiating.&nbsp; Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m.-12 noon before the service.&nbsp; Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walters&#39; memory may&nbsp;be made to Aultman Compassionate Care, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708.
