She was born on September 23, 1933 to Douglas and Ruth (Smith) McMillan in Clarke County, MS. JoAnn is survived by, Husband, George Gaylon Carpenter, Son, Carl (Sheila) Hunter, Daughter, Melody J. (Jane) Pattererson-Loper, Grandson, Jeff (April) Hunter, Great-grandson, Cody Hunter, Brother, Allen (Addie Mae) McMillan, Sister, Patsy Jean Hunter, Sister, Ruth (Ray) Smith, several nieces nephews and extended family members, and all family, friends, and staff at Wisteria Manor. She was preceded in death by Father, Douglas McMillan, Mother, Ruth Smith McMillan, Son, Henry "Buddy" Duell, Jr., Brother, Jimbo McMillan, Brother, Charles McMillan, Sister, Beatrice Campbell, Sister, Betty Lou Stallings, Sister, Sarah Virginia McMillan Perritt. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, 11:00 am at the Wright's Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary McInnis and Rev. Jason Castle, officiating.
