Mrs. Christine E. Borden, 98 of Bronx, New York passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 7:31 a.m. with her loving daughter, Ms. Fern Borden by her side. Mrs. Christine E. Borden was the wife of the late Mr. Harold George Walter Borden Sr. (1921-1977) and was born in Westerly, Rhode Island to the late Walter and Olivia (Reels) Perry. Mrs. Christine Borden was a dedicated member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a humble homemaker for her larger family of thirteen children, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by two sons, Norman K. Borden of Staten Island, New York, and Kevin K. Borden of New Milford, Connecticut; six daughters, Christine Groves of Chesapeake, Virginia, Iness Y. Ziegler of Bronx, New York, Phyllis M. Johnson of Brooklyn, New York, Iris L. Lewis of Brooklyn, New York, Fern Borden of Bronx, New York and Dawn Borden of Bronx, New York; 38 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Vina O. Johnson, Mabel Sebastian, Angeline Fayerweather, William Perry, Arthur Perry, Frederick Perry and Norman Perry. She was affectionately called Aunt Teen by her loving family in Rhode Island where she spent most of her summers. In her later years in life, she lived with her sister Vina O. Johnson in Rhode Island where she was cared for by her nieces Saundra E. Robinson, Sylvia M. Sampson, Iona Y. Vars, Freida I. Clark, Pamela A. Sampson, her nephew William H. Johnson Jr. with his wife Marcia Johnson, all her family in Rhode Island including her spiritual family in the Wakefield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was heartbroken by the loss of her sister Vina in 2019 but her faith in the resurrection hope found in the Bible gave her comfort and she always said: “they are better off because they are out of this wicked system.” She was an especially strong woman that will be missed dearly!
