In 1976, he changed fields to Engineering Automation for the CDOT, where he was supervisor before managing the Department’s effort to acquire and implement a Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system. During the late 1970's and early 1980's he was elected to two consecutive terms (6 years) as an At Large Director and Treasurer of the Colorado Association of Public Employees (CAPE).

For fifteen years, he managed the creation and management of the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) system for the NMSHTD before becoming the Department’s first Chief Information Officer.

After retiring from government in early 2001, he and his close friend (Tom Wood) started Bluejay Enterprises, a computer networking company that grew from a startup company to a highly awarded $1.2M enterprise that specialized in business and public sector computer network operations.
